Northern Virginia Knights: The History
The Northern Virginia Knights are no longer the new kids on the
block. The Fall '06 League Champions have become a perennial
powerhouse in a league featuring some of the most competitive
semi-pro baseball around: the National Adult Baseball
Association's Washington DC wooden bat league (NABA-DC Wood).
The Knights' legacy began in the Fall of 2005, when eighteen young
men, with baseball experience ranging from high school to pro, and
diverse career fields including military officers, intelligence
officers, rock stars, airline pilots, engineers, contractors,
teachers, and builders, dusted off idle arms and bats, laced up
old and worn cleats, and came out to play ball. They braved the
scorching late summer heat and gridlocked DC traffic, and were the
founding squad of the Northern Virginia Knights.
In the seasons that followed, the Knights established themselves
among the upper echelon of teams in NABA DC. They have gained the
respect of the league and their peers for the professionalism,
integrity, and attitude they bring to each game. They show up to
play ball, and have a great time doing it.
The Spring/Summer 2008 season will be the Knights' greatest
challenge to date, as they find themselves in a division with the
top teams in the area. But with a talented veteran core and promising
rookie prospects, the Knights look forward to meeting that
challenge head-on.
Look for the Knights to continue to make an impact in NABA DC and
build upon an already impressive legacy. Hold the Rope!
